This is one of my favorite side dishes! It’s healthy, tasty and full of good nutrition for your body. I know some people who have never tried sweet potatoes and I think this is a huge mistake!
I am not sure how’s a relationship with sweet potatoes in the UK but in the Czech Republic people were quite skeptic about this side dish (well, at least my parents). They always said that sweet potatoes (not the same sweet potatoes) are actually old and over frozen potatoes who you should throw away. After a few years later I came with sweet potatoes fries and they didn’t like it, because of the old. Oh well, you can’t change everything, right? Anyway, even when my parents don’t like the taste of this food (still I don’t understand why ..) I love this side dish and I am happy to have it as a part of my everyday diet.
Maybe you didn’t know but you have more variety of colors and sizes. Most people know orange sweet potatoes, but if you will see purple or white types of sweet potatoes don’t be surprised, it’s the same vegetable with the same health benefits.

How to prepare roasted potatoes.
It’s super easy! As first clean the potatoes. You don’t have to pill the skin, just wash it properly and use a vegetable scrub brush to make sure that you don’t eat a dirty pieces from the potato.
The poke! If you are baking whole potatoes, make a few pokes that will help with the baking process eliminate overburning.
Bake! Lay the potatoes on the tray and let bake it! The baking time depends on the size of the potatoes.
To make your potatoes tastier, try to serve this side dish with quinoa and beans salad.
Baked sweet potatoes/Vegan
- 1 sweet potatoe
- black pepper
- Vegan butter
- Preheat the oven on 200 degrees
- Lay the potatoes on the tray, sprinkle the salt and pepper over the potatoes.
- Poke 4-5 holes in the potatoes and put them into the oven.
- Bake for 40 minutes (it depends on the size of potatoes).
