Spring is coming and I just don’t know why but I had a mood to make something a little bit more special. Probably because of the first sunny days in London, I feel like I need to be more creative and let’s be honest we all deserve something a little bit naughty, right? Let’s keep some balance in our lives! 🙂
Oreo cake has always been one of my favourite cakes ever. I love that taste of cocoa and little crunchy pieces of oreo in the cream. I have to admit I don’t make cakes too often, but I made the decision to practise and learn some new skills from cake making. I am sure that you had already watched incredible and satisfying videos from Instagram where every cake looks so delicious ad easy to make. Unfortunately, the reality is so different. Actually, make a cake which will look wonderful, taste perfectly is such a hard job full of details. Even If I love baking, cooking and I think I am confident in the kitchen, I am not very good at making desserts or decorating them. It needs some good skills, patience and good not shaking hands. Definitely, It’s the best time to try a vegan cake recipe.
I found this cake so delicious and not too tricky for someone who is starting with baking cakes. Not every day we can say that we had an oreo cake or we made something special just because we want. Well, actually we are still in lockdown so probably we can enjoy this luxury of baking tons of new desserts or loaves of bread.
If you are in the mood to bake you can try one of my recipes. I can highly recommend bundt cake with coconut or healthy and easy carrot cake.
Is oreo vegan?
Not really! People think that these chocolate biscuits are suitable for vegans, but be aware! The biscuit’s filling is containing milk. There are a few oreo flavours that can be taken as vegan-friendly. The list is here! As all processed food also Oreo cookies are not very healthy and even if there is information about not using any animals ingredients, there is an amount of milk, so not vegan at all. Also, biscuits are mainly made from palm oil.
How to make Oreo cake:
The preparing whole cake took something around 2 hours. Make sure that that all ingredients are at room temperature.
Get ready: Preheat the oven to 170 C°. I used 6-inch baking tins and sprayed them with cooking spray and line them up with baking paper.
Mix it: In the large bowl or stand mixer combine all dry ingredients. Add all wet ingredients and mix it until it’s smooth. The stand mixer is super helpful. If you use one combine on low speed until it’s combined well.
Bake it: It’s a time to pour dought into ready tins. I used three 6-inches tins. Make sure that you pour the same amount of butter into the tins. Bake it for 40 minutes.
Cool it down: After the cake is cool, you can spread the buttercream and decore the cake.
How to make oreo buttercream:
I made classical oreo buttercream with cookies and butter, sugar, vanilla and some non-dairy milk.
